Professional Development and Recognition

YTEC fosters ongoing professionalism, recognition and lifelong learning through:

• Development and implementation of Nationally recognized Occupational Standards and Certification

• Promotion of a professional image of the industry, through career awareness programs and public awareness campaigns for recognition of tourism professionals

• Marketing to encourage industry and government to include human resource capabilities as an important component in a product package

Education and Training

YTEC is the coordinating body for development of training and other human resource development initiatives through:

• Needs assessment

• Coordinating the implementation of training programs, thus eliminating duplication of development throughout the territory

• Developing new programs, based on industry needs, in cooperation with our partners

• Working closely with Tourism HR Canada to access programs that have been developed in other regions
